DISH Network Becomes First Pay-TV Provider to Launch Spanish-Language App and User Interface

DISH Network has long been known as the leading satellite television and internet provider in terms of customer service, but the company isn’t resting on its laurels. DISH made headlines this week when they announced that they will become the first major pay-TV provider to offer a Spanish-language customer service app for smartphones and tablets. This push towards better servicing the Spanish-language market also includes a new DishLATINO user interface for signature products such as the Hopper DVR.

The MyDISH app has been out for some time, but will now be able to pick up on the language the user prefers based on their device settings. If it is Spanish, the app will automatically default over to that language. This will allow Spanish speakers to easily access and understand critical service functions such as paying bills, accessing account information or ordering pay-per-view programs.

Alfredo Rodriguez, president of DishLATINO, had this to say about the app: “With an estimated 71 percent of US Hispanics accessing the Internet via smartphones, apps are a crucial part of the customer service experience. With MyDISH, customers can access the services they want, in the language they prefer, without having to make a call.”

Referencing the ability to now change the user interface over to Spanish-language, Rodriguez went on to say: “In addition to enjoying programming in both Spanish and English, customers can control which of the two languages they use to search, scroll and select shows. Today’s announcements are part of our commitment to delivering the best entertainment and customer service experience for our customers.”
